The Abhyanga massage is the most popular massage originating in Ayurveda, an ancient healing system from India that is also referred to as a life science. In the Ayurvedic Abhyanga massage, the aim is to harmonize the body, mind and spirit, by stimulating the body´s energy points and centers. In the Abhyanga massage the oil plays a key role as it is believed to bring balance as well as nourish the skin when applied through the massage strokes. This online course provides you with the skills to apply the entire Abhyanga massage, together with an understanding of the underlying Ayrvedic concepts about energy, balanced constitution, diet, lifestyle, etc. Scroll down to read our student testimonials.
THEORY: Before starting the actual practice of the massage, you need to be familiar with the background of the ancient Ayurvedic medicine or science, as well as comprehend its particular view on the human body and mind; the concept of the five elements or mahabhutas; the concept of doshas or constitutions and their characteristics; the marma energy points; the prakriti or identification of the doshas; the dinacharya or lifestyle factors; and the different Ayurvedic treatment methods. This part of the course also refreshes your knowledge of the human anatomy that is essential for practicing the massage. Hence, the first part of the course covers the theoretic aspects that give you a rich foundation for practicing the Ayurvedic Abhyanga massage.
PRACTICE: In this section you will learn how to apply the Abhyanga massage, through practicing the various steps and sequences of the massage. Every single sequence includes an explanatory text (describing the massage stroke, the application manner, the benefits and effects, etc.), an illustration with the direction of the massage stroke, and a videoclip where you can see exactly how the technique is performed.
VIDEO LECTURES & MORE: In addition this course includes video master´s classes given by famous teachers, +20h of additional resources as well as other material necessary to facilitate the understanding of the Ayurvedic Abhyanga massage as well as the basics of the Indian life science Ayurveda.
